Women's Collections
This guide to resources on women should not be considered exhaustive. Rather, the collections selected for inclusion are ones in which women played a major or significant part in creating. They reflect the varied roles women have undertaken and the causes they have supported. They chronicle women's lives from childhood to old age. Researchers may also want to refer to the National Women
and Media Collection.
The Western Historical Manuscript Collection comprises the manuscript holdings of the University of Missouri and the State Historical Society of Missouri. Branches are housed on the four campuses of the University of Missouri. Collections held by one branch can be borrowed for use by patrons at any of the other three through an intercampus loan system, and collections that have been microfilmed can be borrowed
through interlibrary loan.
This guide contains collections from only the Western Historical Manuscript Collection-Columbia location. Each branch of the Collection has many other materials among its holdings containing information about women. Researchers should also visit the web sites of the other locations on the University of Missouri campuses at Kansas City, Rolla, and St. Louis for more information about their women-related holdings.
