NHDMO VolunteersNational History Day in Missouri volunteers provide support for both our past and our future. They help preserve our history by investing in the young people that are our future. Volunteers are needed in several capacities, both at the contest and at other times during the year, including bulk mailings, pamphlet design, taking photos at the contest, but most notably as judges. The judging process is one of the primary reasons for the success of the History Day program. At each level of competition, a team of 2 or 3 judges evaluates student presentations by conducting oral interviews with the students, as well as providing them with written comments. The evaluation process is meant to help the students understand the strengths and weaknesses of their projects, allowing them, if they wish, to add to or adjust their work prior to the next level of competition. More than 150 history and education professionals are needed to judge the state contest each year.
