Nancy Nash Holeman (1806- ), Papers, 1865-1877

Nancy Nash Holeman was the daughter of William and Rebecca Leitchworth Nash of Callaway County. She and her husband, William Henry Holeman, resided on a farm three miles north of Mokane, Callaway County, Missouri.




May 1-10, 1870

1st day of May sunday, 1870 a beautiful morning

2nd Mon I worked at making soap planted artichoaks & goard seed Darling began to sheer sheep

3rd Tues Darling has 14 sheep sherd got 45 pounds of wool May and Jane Bortley washed it a little Sprinkle of rain today Mr. Golden got the Oxens. I worked over some soap which was weak, Sowed cabbage seed

4th Wed they planted corn very warm day Eddy come up to cover corn

5th Thursday they finished planting corn and shearing sheep Jane and Rosey washed the wool. Marshal Allen & wife Mr. Easterbrooks & son come this morning from Billy Creaghead. After dinner Cousin Delpha and I had a fine walk over the rocks & hills & brooks after eleven Mrs. Bartley and I went to see Amanda Dunlap she had a fine son we come home about 3 o'clock

6th Friday a very Cold hard wind, cousin Marshal & company started home this morning, Mrs. Bartley & I went to see Mary Rogers this evening

7th Still Cool and cloudy

8th Sunday Darling started to meeting stoped at Mr Wadleys May and I went to see Amanda Dunlap David and Julia went to Mr Bartleys Rile went up to meeting

9th Mon I planted popcorn we went to see Mr Wadley, our wool weighed 70 Pounds

10th Tues a cool wind from the north and showery, Mrs James Moseley was to see us to day I worked in the garden
