The Stephen S. Drake Letter was donated to the State Historical Society of Missouri by Jan Olson on July 18, 1992 (Accession No. 2911).

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

A single letter written to his family in September 1861 by Union soldier Stephen S. Drake while stationed in St. Louis, Missouri, as a member of Company H, 2nd Missouri Cavalry, describes conditions for soldiers in the city.
