SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The National Broadcasting Company produced the series of radio programs entitled "America United" as a public service feature during and after World War II. The series served as a public forum and was designed to unite farmers, workers and employers with government leaders in order to discuss solutions to the problems of the present and the post-War future.

The 10 June 1945 program was hosted by the American Farm Bureau Federation. Edward A. O'Neal, president of the Farm Bureau, served as moderator for the program. The panelists included William Green, president of the American Federation of Labor; Eric A. Johnston, president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce; and Clarence Cannon, U.S. Representative from Missouri.

During this fifteen minute recording each speaker affirms the goal of uniting the efforts of labor, business, and government in formulating a program for the establishment and maintenance of policies to assure large scale production of the products of agriculture and other industries.
