Resident tax lists listing taxable property and valuation.
DONOR INFORMATION
The Marion County Tax Lists were transferred from the State Historical Society of Missouri on 30 November 1971
(SHS Accession No. 902).
SCOPE AND CONTENT
The Marion County Tax Lists consist of three volumes, one for 1827, two for 1828. The lists are in alphabetical order and list the name of the taxpayer, where his land is located, the valuation of the land, and other taxable property and its valuation: mills, tan yards, distilleries, slaves, horses, cattle, carriages, and watches. The two volumes of 1828 are a
tax list and an adjusted tax list. The adjusted tax list also includes taxes paid by non-residents.
