INTRODUCTION

The Missouri Railroad Records consist of reports, bulletins, pamphlets, proceedings, and other materials of railroads and related organizations in Missouri or its contiguous states.

DONOR INFORMATION

The Missouri Railroad Records were transferred from the State Historical of Missouri Reference Library to the Manuscript Collection on 4 March 2004 (SHS Accession No. 6026).

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The Missouri Railroad Records are primarily records of railroads that had, or have, tracks in Missouri or its contiguous states. The records were bound and shelved as uncataloged material in the State Historical Society of Missouri Reference Library. When they were transferred to the Western Historical Manuscript Collection-Columbia they were entered into a database listing the name of the organization, type of record, date, and any relevant notes. This information was taken from the title page of each item. The database is available for use in the Western Historical Manuscript Collection-Columbia reading room.

The bulk of the collection dates from the 1890s through the 1950s and is annual reports from the various railroads. The second largest group of records is pamphlets. Most of the pamphlets are from railroads, many of them advertising the vacation destinations that the railroad went to, or land available in western states. There are also some records from related organizations, such as agricultural and tourism groups, which used railroads.

The following list is arranged alphabetically by organization, then alphabetically by type of material, and chronologically there under.
