BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Thomas B. Curtis was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on 14 May 1911. He attended public schools in Webster Groves, Missouri, and graduated from Dartmouth College in 1932. He received his law degree from Washington University in St. Louis in 1935 and practiced law in St. Louis. He served on various public commissions and committees in the St. Louis area before he was elected as a Republican to the 82nd and succeeding eight congresses, from 1951 to 1969. Curtis died on 10 January 1993.

Thomas B. Curtis’ interview was recorded on 9 December 1978 for the Association of Former Members of Congress, Inc. as part of its project The Modern Congress in American History, funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. A copy of the edited transcript was donated to the regional depository of the interviewee’s choice.
