BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Durward G. Hall was born on 14 September 1910 in Cassville, Missouri. He graduated from Greenwood High School in Springfield in 1926, Drury College in 1930, and Rush Medical College in 1934. He practiced medicine in Springfield. He served in the U.S. Army for over seven years and was chief of personnel service in the Office of the Surgeon General. He was elected as a Republican to the 87th and the five succeeding congresses, from 1961 to 1973. Hall died on 15 March 2001.

Durward G. Hall’s oral interview was recorded on 21 May 1979 for the Association of Former Members of Congress, Inc. as part of its project The Modern Congress in American History, funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. A copy of the edited transcript was donated to the regional depository of the interviewee’s choice.
