The papers of Thomas W. Ustick, a St. Louis, Missouri, printer, consist of correspondence, bills, receipts, and miscellaneous materials.

DONOR INFORMATION

The Ustick Papers were donated to the University of Missouri by Mrs. Patterson Bain on 15 February 1955 (Accession No. 3228).

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Thomas Watts Ustick worked as a printer in St. Louis, Missouri, during the 1850s and 1860s. He was also an active member of the General Assembly of the United Baptists.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The Thomas W. Ustick Papers consist of correspondence, bills and receipts, and miscellaneous materials documenting the life of a St. Louis printer during the 1850s and 1860s. The letters, both personal and professional, are from various members of the Ustick family describing illnesses and family news, and from members of the Baptist church discussing meetings and church policy. All of the receipts, bills, and licenses pertain to Ustick’s business, T.W. Ustick’s Steam Printing House, located on Locust Avenue, St. Louis, Missouri. Included in the collection are several printing contracts and samples of work done by Ustick.
