The State Historical Society of Missouri has specifically created the Historic Missourians website to assist students of all ages in their study of Missouri history and historic Missourians.
In addition to serving the educational needs of elementary and secondary students throughout Missouri, The State Historical Society of Missouri hopes that this electronic biographical site will be of use and value to Missourians of all ages. In various ways, the Missourians featured on this site brought about or contributed to the growth and development of Missouri as a territory and important state in the Union.
The goal is to provide a biographical entry on each Historic Missourian for which The State Historical Society of Missouri has images and primary resources. Subjects included on the website should no longer be living. Every effort will be made to include biographies that will add to each student’s knowledge of the state and the people who contributed something to our history in both small and large ways.
The brainchild of Carlynn Trout, a freelance writer of educational materials and author of Notable Women of Missouri, this site is produced and maintained by the staff of The State Historical Society of Missouri.
